01

Who and what this covers

This policy describes the privacy practices of LiteStep Games (“we,” “us,” or “our”) for the games named below, support enquiries about those games, and our privacy website at privacy.litestep.com.

Currently covered game: Lanterns of the Vale for macOS.

Other LiteStep games are covered only when explicitly listed here. Before adding a game with different features or data practices, we will describe those differences in this policy or provide a separate policy. This policy does not describe unrelated websites or products using the LiteStep name.

02

Information in our games

Lanterns of the Vale runs locally and does not send gameplay data or personal information to LiteStep Games. You do not need an account or an internet connection to play.

The game does not include advertising, analytics services, third-party tracking SDKs, or developer-operated crash reporting. It does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, or microphone. It does not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

Opening the Privacy Policy menu item launches this website in your default browser. That visit is subject to the website practices below.

03

Local saves and deletion

The game stores progress, gameplay settings, and save timestamps on your Mac so you can continue playing. Save data includes items such as your checkpoint, health, equipment, currency, and completed objectives. Each save slot can also have a recovery backup. LiteStep Games does not receive these files unless you choose to send them to us.

Saves are kept in an Embervale folder within the app’s Application Support storage. The original folder name is retained for compatibility. In sandboxed distributions, this storage is inside the app’s macOS container.

To delete a save: select its slot on the title screen, press Delete or Backspace, and confirm Clear Save. This removes that slot’s primary save and recovery backup. Repeat for each slot you wish to clear. Deleting the app alone may leave local saves behind.

Your operating system or backup services may keep separate copies under your own settings. Clearing an in-game slot does not delete those copies. We cannot access or remotely erase saves or backups on your devices.

04

When you contact us

If you email support@litestep.com, we receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to provide. We use this information to answer your enquiry, troubleshoot problems, and maintain relevant support records.

Please send only information needed for your request. Do not include passwords or payment-card details. Sending a save file, screenshot, or diagnostic report is optional; check it for personal information before sending it.

Our email service providers process support messages to deliver and store correspondence. We do not use support emails for advertising or add you to a marketing list because you contacted support.

05

This website

This privacy website is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Loading the page necessarily sends connection information, such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time, to Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process technical request and security data to deliver, protect, and operate its services. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for its practices.

We do not add advertising, tracking pixels, analytics scripts, cookies, or browser storage to this page. Hosting and security infrastructure may process traffic information or use security mechanisms independently of the page. External links open services governed by their own policies.

06

Sharing, security, and retention

We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Information you provide through support may be processed by service providers needed to handle your enquiry. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect people, our rights, or the security of our services.

Local game data remains until you delete it or your device removes it. We keep support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, maintain relevant records, and meet legal obligations. Hosting and email providers may retain operational logs or backup copies under their own service arrangements. Information processed by these providers may be handled in countries other than your own.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

07

Your choices and requests

You can play Lanterns of the Vale without submitting information to us. You control local game saves and can choose what to include in support messages.

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Where processing depends on consent, you can withdraw that consent. To make a request, email support@litestep.com. We may need enough information to verify your request and locate relevant records. Some information may need to be retained for legal reasons. You may also contact your local data protection authority.

Because we do not receive local game saves automatically, a request to LiteStep Games cannot erase files stored only on your Mac or in your own backups. Use the deletion instructions above.

08

Children’s privacy

The covered game does not request personal information from players, including children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through the game. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through support, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

09

Changes and contact

We will update this page when the covered games or our practices change and revise the effective date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice where required. Adding a new game does not change the practices of an existing game unless its features or implementation also change.

For privacy questions, requests, or game support, contact LiteStep Games at support@litestep.com.
